Animal Pick Up/Drop Off Request
If the animal you would like picked up or dropped off is wearing a collar with or without a tag and appears to be in good health and not injured please do not contact us. You will need to contact Marion/Winston Animal Shelter at (205) 487-2581 as they are employed by Marion County and cities to handle these types of requests.
To report animal cruelty or abandonment or a nuisance animal you will need to contact your local law enforcement and ask that they contact the county impounding officer. We cannot enter private property nor have the authority to investigate these issues unless law enforcement invites us in. If the animal is located within city limits you will need to contact your local police department at their non-emergency number, unless it is a life threatening situation or there is someone in potential danger. If the animal is located outside city limits you will need to contact Marion County Sheriff's Department at 205-921-7433 or you may send them an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Due to limited capacity during construction, we are not currently taking in owner surrenders unless you can keep your pet until we are able to rehome it. We are offering assistance through Adopt-a-Pet.com, please click the Find Your Pet A New Home link below for more information. If you would like to surrender/turn in your own animal or assistance re-homing your own animal please email us at email@example.com. Note: There is an owner surrender fee ($25 for less than 25 lbs., $35 for over 25 lbs., and $50 for 100 lbs. and over) you will be charged per animal, maximum of $150, if you turn the animal in instead of keeping it in your care until we are able to secure a new foster or permanent home. This fee helps us with the cost of vaccinating. WE CANNOT ACCEPT AGGRESSIVE ANIMALS! IF YOUR PET HAS BIT OR INJURED A PERSON OR ANOTHER ANIMAL FOR ANY REASON OTHER THAN SELF DEFENSE YOU WILL NEED TO CONTACT THE MARION/WINSTON ANIMAL SHELTER, SEE THEIR NUMBER ABOVE.
If you would like to report a stray dog, please email or text us the location, time animal was last seen and description of animal to firstname.lastname@example.org or 205-549-2565.
Please note that we are ONLY responding to reports and requests that follow the above instructions due to the overwhelming number of phone calls we're receiving. We are volunteer based and ran by people who also work other 40+ hour/week jobs with families and animals of their own so it is the only way we've found to keep track of everyone without missing a request or need.
ALSO NOTE we are ONLY accepting requests and responding to emails between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM Mondays - Fridays and from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturdays. We are not accepting any requests on Sundays.
IF AN ANIMAL IS SEVERLY INJURED OR HAS A LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY THERE IS A LIST OF EMERGENCY CLINICS IN OUR AREA, YOU MAY CONTACT ONE OF THEM AS WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY EQUIPPED TO HANDLE THOSE. NOTE WE DO NOT HAVE ANY SERVICES OR PERSONS WE RECOMMEND IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES AND CANNOT GUARANTEE THE TYPE OR QUALITY OF CARE RECEIVED.
